Dr Mark Evans, Managing Director, BayWa r.e. UK was one of the key speakers at the Bavaria-Scotland Partnership conference in Edinburgh on 24th March.
The event was part of a 3-day visit of a Bavarian delegation headed by Ilse Aigner MdL, a prominent German politician and Bavarian Minister to Scotland following a meeting between the Bavarian Economics Minister and the Scottish First Minister in 2015.
Nicola Sturgeon MSP, First Minister of the Scottish Government, also spoke at the event and outlined the Scottish government’s strategy for closer co-operation with Bavaria in a number of industry sectors.
Dr Evans’s speech was based around the potential of the Bavarian-Scotland partnership and described why BayWa r.e. decided to invest in Scotland and the renewable energy industry.
Scotland and Bavaria enjoy many cultural and educational links with a total of 17 town twinnings between the 2 countries. There are now plans to develop an “economic twinning” and the energy sector is one of the areas for mutual co-operation.
