BayWa r.e. expands its Services portfolio in the UK

to overview

BayWa r.e. has secured contracts to provide asset management services to an additional four UK wind sites owned by Greencoat UK Wind PLC and previously managed by DNV, as it further expands its managed portfolio.

Natasha Kumar, Managing Director, BayWa r.e. Operation Services Limited, commented: “We are delighted to add these sites to our growing portfolio. Our proven track record and high-quality services, combined with our continued investment in the UK renewables market, will bring significant value to the assets, whilst demonstrating our commitment to reinforcing a strong, strategic partnership with Greencoat.”

Greencoat is currently invested in 38 UK wind farms, both onshore and offshore, with net generating capacity of 1,209 MW. With the addition of these sites from DNV, BayWa r.e. currently manages over 350 MW of wind sites on Greencoat’s behalf. This further expands the BayWa r.e. UK managed wind portfolio to approximately 700 MW.

Keir Harman, DNV’s Renewables Operations Director, added: “As DNV’s strategy to divest wind farm site management and control room services progresses we are pleased to see BayWa r.e.’s highly experienced team taking over and providing future asset management services to these sites. DNV continues to focus on core operational phase technical advisory services where we value our close working relationships with both BayWa r.e. and Greencoat.”

These milestones show a commitment to the UK’s wind development, which is such an important part of the country’s energy mix. Through its leading service offering and investment, BayWa r.e. is making a key contribution to the UK government’s target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
