Standing Up for Safety: BayWa r.e. Joins SafetyOn’s Industry-Wide Initiative
This annual initiative brings together the onshore wind industry to engage in meaningful conversations about health and safety. For BayWa r.e., it’s an opportunity to strengthen our safety culture, share best practices, and ensure that every team member feels empowered to speak up and take action when it comes to safety.
We are a proud and active member of SafetyOn, setting a standard for health and safety in the wider industry. It has been our goal since the very beginning to promote and create positive change in the UK’s renewable energy industry.
Why It Matters
At BayWa r.e. safety is always first. Whether we are developing new projects, managing assets, or working on site, our goal is simple: we want everybody to be safe, every day. SafetyOn’s Stand Up for Safety Week provides us with dedicated time to have meaningful conversations about how every single one of us can show up for safety every day.
How We Took Part
Throughout the week, our teams across the UK & Ireland came together to explore how human factors influence safety at every stage of our work, from early project development through to operations of solar, wind and battery assets.
Activities included:
Safety-focused talks and open discussions in offices and on site, where teams shared real examples of how pressure, assumptions, and communication can affect safety outcomes.
Workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions that reinforced hazard awareness, proactive risk management, and the importance of speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.
Wellbeing activities highlighting the role of mental health in safe decision-making, recognising that looking after ourselves and each other is a critical part of a strong safety culture.
By creating space for open and honest conversations, we strengthened our shared commitment to standing up for safety together every day.
Looking Ahead
Our participation in Stand Up for Safety Week is just one part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety. In 2026, we will continue to invest in training, technology, and processes that keep our people safe and our operations resilient.
Thank you to SafetyOn for organising this important campaign. We are looking forward to taking part again next year!
