BayWa r.e. successful at recent UK CfD Allocation Round 4

to overview

In the recent UK Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 4 process, BayWa r.e. have been successful inwith eight projects throughout England and Scotland, totalling over 330MW across onshore wind and solar.

CfDs are the UK government scheme that  promotes investment into large scale low carbon electricity generation. Renewable developers in Great Britain can compete for contracts by submitting sealed bids into the CfD auction.

To date there have been four allocation rounds, and, in the recent Allocation Round Four (AR4), BayWa r.e. have successfully secured CfDs for eight renewable energy projects. These include 6 solar projects, totalling 236MW, as well as 2 onshore wind projects, totalling 98MW.

These projects represent an important contribution to securing the reliable, long-term supply of domestically-generated, renewable energy. In the face of climate and energy crises, it is more important than ever to deliver low-cost as well as zero-carbon energy to UK consumers. Additionally, these renewable energy projects will support the UK government’s ambitions in meeting its Net Zero emission commitment by 2050, and the Net Zero emission electricity system target by 2035.

John Milligan, Managing Director for BayWa r.e. UK, said: “This is a fantastic result, which puts us in a strong position for our near-term pipeline. This portfolio has been a team effort over the last few years, and this is a great reward for all the hard work put in.”
